Pastor or Rural Church Care
- Responsibilities: preaching, leading The Underground youth ministry, providing oversight and guidance for worship and equipping ministries (men, women, children and young adults)
- Family: Mackenzie (married January 2013) and Theodore (born September 2020)
- Hobbies: hanging out with friends and family, sports (watching and playing), reading, writing, guitar
- Education: Moody Theological Seminary (M.Div, December 2019), Biola University (B.A. English, May 2011)
- Responsibilities: serving as shepherd and advisor to Bethel’s rural church partners
- Family: Patricia (wife of 57 years), 3 kids, 6 grandkids, 4 great grandkids & dog, Till
- Hobbies: hunting, camping, & spending time with people

Jessica Newton
Director of Administration
*Responsibilities: to keep the office running smoothly & assist with administrative tasks
*Family: Roston (married for 23 years) and 2 boys – Andy & Keauno
*Hobbies: spending time with family and friends, going for walks, watching
movies, a good cup of tea, traveling & enjoying God’s beautiful creation

Our Elders

Rollin Herman
Rollin is a lifelong resident of the Devils Lake Region and has been a member of Bethel for nearly 40 years. Rollin is married to his wonderful wife, Michelle, and they have four children and five grandchildren. Rollin practices dentistry in town and when he is not volunteering at church, you will find Rollin playing at the lake, gardening, enjoying music, or riding go-carts with kids.

Brian Prince
Is originally from Bismarck, but transplanted to the area in 1996. He met is wonderful wife Shaun, shortly after and they were married in 1999. They have four children. Brian has been a part of Bethel for over 20 years, and currently serves in the sound booth. Previous service includes Deacon Care, Sunday school teacher, Awana and student ministry assistant. Brian works for the ND Game and Fish Department. In his spare time he enjoys time in the Word, time with family, hunting and fishing.

Kelly Westby
Kelly is originally from Cando, ND and has lived in the Lake Region his entire life. Kelly has served as a member and leader at Bethel Church for many years. Kelly is known for his love for the Lord, his wisdom in life, and his empathy and compassion for all. On Sunday mornings you may find Kelly in the back of the sanctuary, as he frequently helps with ushering and greeting.

Jonathan Deckert
Jonathan grew up in New Rockford and has lived in the Lake Region for about 20 yrs. He is married to Andrea and together they have 6 kids, 5 of whom they are currently homeschooling. Jonathan has served at Bethel on worship council, worship team and in Awana. You will often see him up front at Bethel leading music or playing guitar. Jonathan has worked construction since high school and has had a general contracting business since 2013. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, hiking, playing basketball, reading and camping with his family.

Renard Bergstrom
Renard was born and raised in Devils Lake. After high school he attended the Air Force Academy, and after pilot training he married Candace. Renard served as a pilot in the USAF and later had the opportunity to join North Dakota Air National Guard and return to Devils Lake. Renard is now employed at Devils Lake Cars and he and Candace have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. Renard and Candace have been members of Bethel since returning home and Renard has enjoyed serving in Awana and Youth Sunday School. Renard is still flying, he enjoys skiing, swimming and playing with his grandchildren.

Duane Twedt
Duane grew up on a farm north of McHenry and recently moved back to the farm with his wife Andrea after living in Lakota for 30 years. They have 4 adult children. Duane works for the USDA/Farm Service Agency in Lakota and also farms. He has attended Bethel for 20 years and has been involved as an usher and leading adult classes. Duane enjoys golf and is a Twins, Vikings, and Bison fan.

Michael Tiradani
Michael grew up in Wisconsin and met his wife, Karen, at UW-Milwaukee in 1973 and they were married in 1974. Michael’s professional career was spent mostly in large scale computing, working for Koss, Baxter, CIGNA, and Kraft. He has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Upon retirement, Michael and Karen moved to North Dakota (Karen’s home state). Michael was an Elder in a church in Wisconsin and was involved with numerous Bible studies while living in Wisconsin and is part of the prayer ministry here at Bethel.

Nicholas Kligmann
Nicholas was born and raised in Utah. He became a believer as a child and has known the saving grace of God his entire life. He’s been married to his wife, Marci, since 2007. They lived in southeast Alaska when their son, Timothy, was born in 2010. They moved to Devils Lake in 2012 and started attending Bethel soon after. He has served churches in many different capacities, most recently as a Sunday school teacher. His hope and prayer as an Elder is to serve God through helping maintain the Bethel church body so that it can continue to glorify God.

Roston Newton
Roston was born and raised in the Bahamas and has lived in the US since 1996. He met his wife, Jessica, in college and they have 2 grown children. Roston has worked a variety of jobs and currently runs a remodeling business and manages his rental properties. When he’s not working, you’ll find him fishing, playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends.

Mark Mattern
Mark and his wife, Paulette, are originally from Kenmare, ND. They moved to the Lake Region area in 2014. Mark was employed with Burke Divide Electric Cooperative before retiring in 2015. Mark and his wife have 3 married children, 7 grandchildren. Mark has been a member since 2015. He currently serves as an Usher/Greeter and helps with Awana. He enjoys helping at Schwan Oil, hunting, fishing, yard work and of course spending time with family.
